I try to implement GIMP's the Additional blending mode for layers in my application. I've found the formula: 

E = min((M+I), 255)

I think, that if I blend colours with values (255, 127.5, 0) and (0, 127.5, 255) I will get (255, 255, 255) but in GIMP I see color with value (255.0, 176.0, 255.0).
Which formula GIMP uses to calculate the result color?
