On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Full elections have three phases and an optional fourth phase (Primary):

  1. Question Collection
  2. Nomination
  3. Primary
  4. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Hello,

my name is Volker and I am an engineer from Germany. In my professional career, I do a lot of programming that isn't directly related to computer graphics. However, after work, I follow my true passion and work on my own game/graphics engine. This interest of mine lead me to this site.

I enjoy helping others to solve their problems and sharing my knowledge. This motivates me to visit this site regularly, currently multiple times a day. So I can help to resolve new flags quickly. I also have a regular look into all the review queues that are available to me and review as many items as I can.

If I think that a post has some issues and cast a corresponding vote, I always leave a comment expressing what I think is wrong. I am aware that moderator votes are binding so I would delay my vote on disputable cases and leave a comment until enough other users agree with me. However, I would close obvious spam and questions totally unrelated to CG immediately.

In case you don't agree with one of my actions on this site, I am always open to arguments and will reconsider my decisions.

This post has a character limit. Ask me anything you need to know in the comments.

This election is over.
